A Sikkimese choktse is a beautifully crafted, foldable wooden table that originated in the Gangtok region of Sikkim, India. Rooted in Tibetan traditions, these tables are made from local woods such as kath or tsingh. The process involves cutting the wood into pieces, carving intricate motifs on them, and affixing these decorated panels onto the table structure. The designs are first transferred onto the wood using paper stencils, ensuring precise, delicate detail.

The tables are then painted with a vivid palette of traditional colors like blue, green, pink, red, orange, golden, and chocolate-brown. This painting enhances their unique, cultural motifs and adds an elegant polish to each piece. Known for their portability and available in various sizes, choktses are highly valued for their intricate art and craftsmanship, achieving both national and international acclaim.
